Asus Zenfone Zoom S Review

Asus Zenfone Zoom

Asus Zenphone ZoomThe Asus Zenfone Zoom S is a powerful smartphone especially targeted to people who want to take good photographs from their mobile telephone.

It is a unique product: a dual lens system with sensor ƒ/1.7 SONY IMX362 and 2.3x optical zoom, a Qualcomm® Snapdragon ™ S625 processor, the ASUS SuperPixel ™ Engine technology and a generous 5000 mAh battery. The result? Simply surprising!

The Zenfone Zoom S comes with two rear camers: the main one packs a Sony IMX362 sensor, and it’s further assisted 4-axis OIS (optical image stabilization)  and a wide angle lens together with the ASUS SuperPixel ™ technology to capture everyday life scenes, even with little light. The other 12 MP camera has a fixed 59mm focal length (35mm equivalent), giving it a fixed 2.3x optical zoom. that allows the capture of splendid close-ups even from far away.

This makes the ZenFone Zoom S an ideal ally for night-time photography or in poorly lit environments. Optical and Electronic Image Stabilization (OIS + EIS) allows you to take pictures and make videos with no smudges.

The manual mode of ZenFone Zoom allows you to access advanced parameters like those of a digital SLR camera such as shutter speed, white balance, EV, ISO, plus two exclusive features: support of the RAW* format and the ability to pass instantly from one lens to the other by varying the focal distance from 25 mm or 59 mm.

The Asus Zenfone Zoom S Features

The Asus Zenfone Zoom has been constructed with quality materials. The all-metal body looks and feels rich in your hand and we especially like the Navy Black colour on our unit. There are rounded edges all around and  you never feel any sharp edges no matter which way you hold it.

The display is really nice and the 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels), full-HD AMOLED panel produces rich, saturated colours and deep blacks. The panel also has a very good brightness level of 500nits, which produces sunlight legibility. Finally, it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for added scratch protection.

The smartphone has a single tray for either two Nano-SIM cards or one SIM and a microSD card (up to 2TB). The rest of the ports are placed at the bottom and  include a headphone socket, USB Type-C port, and a single speaker grille. There are also antenna bands running across the top and bottom portions of the phone.

Both of the ZenFone Zoom S nano SIM card slots are compatible with 2G, 3G, and 4G networks, but only one SIM card can connect to a 3G or 4G network at any one time. The second nano SIM card slot can double up to take in a microSD card to expand the phone’s built-in 64GB storage space.

Like the ZenFone 3, the ASUS ZenFone Zoom S uses a “5-magnet NXP Amp” speaker. By itself, the phone’s speaker is very loud for its size. The ZenFone Zoom S also has the 3.5mm audio port which is located to the left of the USB charging port.

The Asus Zenphone Zoom S has a Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage that make up good core specifications and produce decent benchmark numbers like 63039 points in AnTuTu and 22fps in GFXbench, It has a massive 5,000mAh battery capacity which, according to some user reviews, last almost 2 days.

A special functions is the fingerprint sensor located in the rear and that has a 0.3-second unlock time,

The ZenFone Zoom S runs on Android 7.1.1 with the company’s custom skin called ZenUI 3.0. It’s very similar to previous Asus smartphones.
